Cherished Moments at Home | South Bend, Indiana Family Session

When someone says, “We were actually kind of hoping you could just come to the house and take pictures of us hanging out,” my documentary-style-loving heart does a little happy dance. That’s exactly what this family asked for during their South Bend, Indiana, at-home session, and it couldn’t have been more perfect.

Location Details: Home Sweet Home

This session unfolded in the comfort of their home, where memories are made and cherished. From the backyard swing to the puzzle on the dining room table, and even the playpen filled with baby’s favorite toys (like an oatmeal can—classic!), we documented what makes this family them.

Their sunroom, with its cozy vibes and plenty of natural light, became the perfect spot for reading books and soaking in quiet moments. And for a festive touch, we took a few posed photos on the front stoop, ideal for Christmas cards and posterity.

Details I’m Loving:

  • Puzzle Time: Because every family has their own dining table traditions, and theirs is all about puzzles!

  • Backyard Swinging: A little slice of joy, with the dog and cat standing guard.

  • Playpen Chaos: Watching the whole family squeeze into the playpen to play with baby’s oatmeal can (yes, really) was a moment of pure fun and love.

  • Sunroom Vibes: Reading together as the sunlight streamed in made for some of the sweetest, coziest photos.

It was also a small-world moment when I learned Mom and Dad met playing tennis at IU. My aunt, a local tennis pro, even kind of knows them—what are the chances?

This session was a reminder of why I love at-home photography so much. It’s about capturing people where they’re most comfortable, doing the things they love with the people (and pets!) who matter most. If you’re thinking about an at-home session, let’s make it happen!
