Extended Family Photos at Home on the Farm in South Bend
For their 40th anniversary, Kristin really wanted to do something for her Mom and Step Dad that had never been done: get the entire family together for a picture. Their blended family of siblings, step-siblings and all the grandchildren from both sides had never all been together for a photo. “This will be the first time we are attempting an ENTIRE family photo-with step-siblings! I’m so excited to be doing this as a gift for my parents! My parents are celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary this year and we are hoping to gift them a session for a family photo-including them, my sister and my step-siblings and their families. They live on a farm in South Bend and it would be so special to have that be the location of our shoot.”
Say less.
The excitement for the photo spread, prompting her Stepdad and stepbrothers to shine up 3 generations of tractors to match the 3 generations of farmers that are still working the Ginger Valley farm in South Bend. I was game!
Family Farm
We set up shop at their family’s beautiful farm on the south side, choosing the always-classic and ever present corn crop as the background for the family photos. When I arrived, I was immediately welcomed inside their home and shown the last family photos that were taken of the grandchildren. It looked like I was going to be giving them their first picture in about 2 decades. While the now-grown grandchildren laughed at their fashion choices from 20 years ago, I couldn’t help but feel so honored to be chosen to make this happen for this couple and their family.
Details I’m Loving
Grandma has the cutest little cabin on the property that her grandchildren used to play in, so she definitely wanted a picture of them in front of that. It is seriously adorable. I would have loved to have free reign over a little playhouse like that when I was little. What epic games of house that could have been played…
I also went a little overboard with taking photos of Grandma with her two daughters. They were silly and lighthearted, with great big 100 watt smiles. I couldn’t stop snapping.
Client Love
I’m so pleased with how this enormous shoot came together. I think I spent about 35 minutes taking pictures and chatting before I called it a wrap, but we sure got what we came for! Help me wish this local couple a happy anniversary.
