Dog-Friendly Newborn Photoshoot in Mishawaka

I’ve never owned a dog. Ever! My boys want a dog so badly, but I just don’t, guys. It’s not that I don’t like them – I really do! I just can’t commit to one right now. I’ll never say never, but for now, it's a solid "not now!" Today, though, I got to wear my newborn photographer hat again, and this time, we had a special guest – a dog! This is actually the second newborn session in a row where a dog made a cameo.

Details I’m Loving

Including your dog in your newborn session is a lovely way to personalize the experience. After all, your dog was probably your first “baby,” right? Fur babies absolutely deserve to join the fun! I loved how this dog stood guard over his new brother on the bed. Watching him sniff around, making sure that lady with the camera was cool, showed how protective he already feels toward his little sibling.

Dad shared, "Even yesterday, if you would have told me that we could lay our son down on the bed and our dog would be calm enough to sit on the bed with him, I would have told you that you were crazy.” It’s truly incredible how quickly the new normal becomes... well, normal! The fur baby and the real baby are already getting to know each other. A new little person joins your family, and things change every single day after that, don't they?

I also adored how Mom and Dad wanted to incorporate this sweet handmaid blanket from a relative into their photos. It was such a meaningful touch! Baby got to wear his first real outfit during our session too, and oh my, he looked so dapper. (Cue heart eyes!)

Favorite Picture

This is our favorite image because it just encompasses our brand new family with the admiration we have for our baby.

Lindsey did an in-home photo shoot of our 10 day son and did a great job. She was extremely welcoming, patient, and efficient. My wife and I had never done a photoshoot like this before and it is our first son so we were expecting a ton of hiccups. Due to Lindsey's ability to prepare us before hand and execute pictures right away we were able to have a smooth and quick process and got a ton of pictures that we will remember for a lifetime!

Oh goodness, I am just so honored every time you invite me into your home during such an intimate time in life. It’s truly a blessing to be your South Bend newborn photographer.
