Some sessions keep you on your toes in the very best way—and this one was definitely that. On paper, it should’ve been the easiest session ever: two sweet and cooperative older girls, a gorgeous and deeply connected family, a picture-perfect home, and even a dog that looked like it was born to be photographed. But Mother Nature had other plans. Instead of sunshine, we spent the whole evening dodging a steady, peaceful rain—not sprinkles… real rain.

And honestly? It just made the session even better.

Thanks to their laid-back personalities, the Branham family rolled with every curveball. We zipped around their beautiful property on a gator, stopping wherever the light (and dry spots!) allowed. The girls were laughing, the parents were relaxed, and despite the weather, the whole session felt joyful and calm. Walking away and hearing the girls say, “That was so fun!” was the absolute best part. If they’re happy, I’m happy.

Mom knew from the beginning that she wanted their session at home, and I loved that. Home sessions have become some of my very favorites this year. There’s something special about photographing families where they feel most themselves. This family truly loves being home—and it shows. Their pond, their creek, their open space… it’s all stunning, but the warmth and connection between them is what makes it magic.

Mom told me she simply wanted to remember “the goodness of being together.”
I hope these photos let her hold onto that goodness for years and years to come.

A heartwarming black and white photo capturing the connection between the mother and daughter as they share a laugh while sitting on a blanket in a park-like setting.

Ready to capture the beauty of your own family at home?

I’d love to help you preserve those real, joyful moments in the place that means the most to you.
