Why Printing Your Pictures Matters

I got a text message recently. This is what it said:

Just wanted to make sure everything went through on the deposit? I loved the pictures from our last session so much and had saved them on my computer but didn’t get to print them because were in the middle of remodeling our house. I went to print them a few weeks ago and my computer crashed. I cried because they were such good pictures, so I for sure don’t want to lose this date with you.

This is exactly why printing photos is so darn important. We want photos we can hold in our hands, pass around, point at, pin up, frame and pass down to our kids. Yet so many of our photos die a long, lonely death on a hard drive somewhere.

Don’t worry about my client. I sent her the digitals right away. I back up my computer and hard drives locally and in the cloud so they should be around for the long haul. I have had to do this a handful of times for clients. I hope I will always be able to do so for you, but if something ever happens to me and I am not a resource for you anymore, please print them!

Previous clients of mine might not know that my gallery site now hosts pictures for a long time. You should be able to go in and order prints anytime in the future. If you only ordered a couple for frames this year, but really want to print the rest, you should be able to do so anytime you please! The last few clients of the 2021 got to poke around on the site. This video shows you how pretty the new site is. The next video shows you some of the purchasing options.

I know so many of you highly value photos, albums and prints, but lack the time to dedicate to ordering them. I try and help out there, too. I put together an album with my favorites from every session to present to you during your ordering session. You can make changes, swaps, add pages, etc. We do all that together in one sitting so you don’t have to do anything on your own. I love these albums.

I’d like some feedback.

Typically people either buy a package with digitals, an album and a canvas, or they just get all the digitals. My question is, if I included a set of 4x6 prints of all the photos, how much value do you think that would add to the digital package? Would you prefer that to a straight-digital purchase? I am very curious. More and more, I just really want to make sure you have something in your hands at the end of our time together that doesn’t live on a computer! Tell me what you think:
