Indianapolis Family Film + Photo Session
When this beautiful mama called me about traveling down to Indy to do a family film, I got really excited.
I hung up the phone with a huge smile on my face and immediately said a little prayer of thanks. This mom found me on IG (cool!) and then gushed about the family films she saw there (yes!!). I love when someone reaches out to me as a family photographer. But, anyone following along here knows that my business has shifted to family films. The problem is not many people know about them. When someone finds them, falls in love and immediately wants one, I get excited. Let’s goooooo, as my kids would say. During our chat, I quickly realized she clicked every box on that famous “ideal client” form that small business owners hear all about.
The checkbox I was most excited about was this: She places tremendous value in photos, but even more in videos. She said her kids love to sit around the TV and watch the family videos she has stitched together. Mine do exactly the same thing. Almost every day, they are watching my short “professional” family films or the long completely unedited videos I throw together every year. I did the exact same thing as a kid, watching our old camcorder videos over and over and over. She was really speaking my language, here!
Throw in a beautiful family, a truly stunning home in a dreamy neighborhood.. well folks, that’s my idea of a Saturday well-spent.
I want to remember how much love and happiness the kids really do bring to [my husband] and I and our family and marriage and how they actually bring us closer. In this season of life, it’s so easy to quickly get frustrated when we have all been together so much and I want to remember the good in it all… the way it taught us to slow down and really listen to and enjoy the kids and one another.
Well said, Mrs. P! I couldn’t agree more. In fact, after a week long vacation last week in a hotel room with all 5 of us, I was really feeling the “frustrated when we have all been together so much” part of her statement. But, when you look back, you have the memories, the shared experiences and you are knitted together that much more.
I chose a faster-paced edit than usual with this one. It seemed more true to their story… raising 3 littles under 5 is not peaceful, slow and dreamy all the time. (ha ha ha ha) I wanted to include their many, many moments of connection, while somehow showing the business of a household in this particular age group and I JUST LOVE the way it came together. What do you think?
I’d love to film your family. However, all of 2021 has just 1 date left. Let’s talk about getting you on the schedule for 2022!
